“Paisagens interiores” é o título da exposição da artista moçambicana Suzy Bila, inserida nas mostras paralelas da Art Macao, Bienal Internacional de Arte de Macau 2023. As obras de pintura estão patentes na Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau Hotel Lobby, numa organização e curadoria da Amagao Gallery.

Suzy Bila que se destaca a partir da diáspora pinta as emoções com tons profundamente monótonas, que crescem com a imaginação e puxam pelas experiências de vida às vezes pouco acedidas ou inalcançáveis, pela interferência da pressão dos dias.

As telas enormes, que cobrem o campo da visão, como se nos convocassem para a imersão que escapa aos dias, é capaz de atrair para um conjunto de sensações, fazendo com que a mensagem varie da personalidade de cada um. Aí está o valor da criação de Suzy Bila, o apreciador é tido como parte do processo, aquele que dá significado à obra.

Na mostra “Paisagens interiores” cuja selecção das obras foi feita com a Amagao Gallery que se deslocou até ao atelier da artista no Alentejo, em Portugal, Suzy expõe o interior a partir de um mundo divergente. Os tempos pandêmicos terão afectado o seu processo criativo, como as narrativas da vida, do existencialismo e dos conflitos do interior da alma.

“A minha relação com a arte é de uma prática que se abraça à vida como resposta a questionamentos. Vivo de processos dinâmicos sujeitos a influências de um mundo em metamorfose. De vida refletindo diferentes universos contemporâneos. De problemáticas que abraçam o mundo continuamente.”, explica.

Esta forma de ver o mundo a partir da espiritualidade e da complexidade da alma humana, faz com que Suzy Bila esteja numa outra dimensão da arte. Aquela que não segmenta nem fragmenta. Retira o apreciador dessa condição, para que ele molde os mundos que possui no seu âmago. “A arte flui em diferentes territórios de forma espontânea é com eles que aprendo a entender a fluidez de um caminho para a libertação espiritual e das amarras físicas e biológicas.”, afirma.

Dá-nos a sensação de que a alma é um lugar vazio, que precisa da arte para ser preenchido. Ou então, porque não enxergamos tudo e daí os vazios, as ausências, a provável angústia e a tentativa que temos de preencher os espaços na sua tela monocromática.

Se calhar se explique pelas palavras da própria artista. “No meu caminho artístico, cada momento está carregado de uma intensidade própria, não prevejo o final, tudo é vida.”

A exposição “Paisagens interiores” pode ser vista até dia 06 de Outubro de 2023. Suzy Bila, de nome oficial Maria Suzete Bila para além de artista plástica é escritora e educadora. Nasceu a 23 de agosto de 1974 na cidade de Maputo e inicia o percurso artístico em 1993, no atelier do artista moçambicano, Noel Langa. Publicou o livro infantil “Lamura” (2021) pela Escola Portuguesa de Moçambique.

Painting by Suzy Bila at the Macao Art Biennale

 

“Interior Landscapes” is the title of the exhibition by Mozambican artist Suzy Bila, part of the parallel exhibitions of Art Macao, Macau International Art Biennale 2023. The painting works are on display at Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau Hotel Lobby, organised and curated by Amagao Gallery.

Suzy Bila, who stands out from the diaspora, paints emotions in deep monotonous tones, which grow with the imagination and pull at life experiences that are sometimes inaccessible or unattainable due to the interference of the pressure of the days.

The huge screens that cover the field of vision, as if summoning us to the immersion that escapes the days, is able to attract to a set of sensations, making the message vary from the personality of each one. That is the value of Suzy Bila’s creation, the appreciator is considered part of the process, the one who gives meaning to the work.

In the show “Interior Landscapes“, whose selection of works was made with Amagao Gallery, which travelled to the artist’s studio in Alentejo, Portugal, Suzy exposes the interior from a divergent world. The pandemic times are said to have affected her creative process, such as the narratives of life, existentialism and the conflicts of the inner soul.

“My relationship with art is a practice that embraces life as a response to questions. I live from dynamic processes subject to the influences of a world in metamorphosis. Of life reflecting different contemporary universes. Of problems that continually embrace the world,” she explains.

This way of seeing the world from the spirituality and complexity of the human soul, makes Suzy Bila be in another dimension of art. One that does not segment or fragment. It removes the appreciator from this condition, so that he can mould the worlds he has at his core. “Art flows into different territories spontaneously, and it is with them that I learn to understand the fluidity of a path to spiritual liberation and physical and biological ties,” she says.

It gives us the feeling that the soul is an empty place that needs art to be filled. Or else, because we don’t see everything and hence the voids, the absences, the probable anguish and the attempt we have to fill the spaces on her monochrome canvas.

Perhaps this is explained by the artist’s own words. “In my artistic path, each moment is charged with its own intensity, I do not foresee the end, everything is life.”

The exhibition “Interior Landscapes” can be seen until 06 October 2023. Suzy Bila, whose official name is Maria Suzete Bila, besides being a visual artist, is a writer and educator. She was born on 23 August 1974 in the city of Maputo and began her artistic career in 1993, in the studio of the Mozambican artist, Noel Langa. She published the children’s book “Lamura” (2021) by the Portuguese School of Mozambique.
