A fotógrafa iraniana Forough Yavari é a vencedora da competição internacional de fotógrafos de retratos do ano, “International Portrait Photographer of the Year”. A colecção vencedora apresenta retratos de mulheres negras, aprimorados pela incorporação de pigmento de ouro 24K meticulosamente feito à mão nas imagens impressas.

A atribuição do prémio foi pela sua série fotográfica impactante intitulada “Salvation”, uma criação inspirada na poesia de Langston Hughes, que ela leu no auge do movimento Black Lives Matter.

“Para este projecto me inspiro nos poemas de Langston Hughes. Ele foi poeta, dramaturgo e ativista social e há dois elementos principais no seu trabalho que me inspiram – a dança e o blues, que remetem à liberdade e à solidão. Portanto, este trabalho é baseado nesses dois elementos, dança e música, que ressoam porque também o tenho em minha herança“, disse Yavari à National Portrait Gallery.

Forough Yavari é uma premiada fotógrafa de retratos artísticos e moda que mora em Melbourne, na Austrália. Inspirado por suas experiências de vida como mulher, o trabalho de Forough se concentra em retratar a narrativa por trás da vida de mulheres de todo o mundo.

“Impactful” images win Forough Yavari photographer of the year award

Iranian photographer Forough Yavari is the winner of the International Portrait Photographer of the Year competition. The winning collection features portraits of black women, enhanced by the incorporation of meticulously handmade 24K gold pigment into the printed images.

The award was given for her striking photographic series entitled “Salvation“, a creation inspired by the poetry of Langston Hughes, which she read at the height of the Black Lives Matter movement.

“For this project I am inspired by the poems of Langston Hughes. He was a poet, playwright and social activist and there are two main elements in his work that inspire me – dance and the blues, which refer to freedom and solitude. So this work is based on those two elements, dance and music, which resonate because I also have him in my heritage,” Yavari told the National Portrait Gallery.

Forough Yavari is an award-winning artistic portrait and fashion photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. Inspired by her life experiences as a woman, Forough’s work focuses on portraying the narrative behind the lives of women from all over the world.
