O festival Gala Gala, evento artístico cuja marca é a multidisciplinaridade artística e a diversidade dos espaços, propondo um roteiro pelos principais espaços culturais de Maputo, é realizado nos dias 11 e 17 de Setembro. 21 eventos estão agendados para esta quarta edição.

Desde logo, as artes visuais se destacam. A abrir a o festival a exposição “sangue do meu sangue” de Sara Carneiro leva-nos para a Fortaleza de Maputo e levanta um percurso histórico-político da colonização e, até, das identidades, a partir da imposição da cultura do outro, da coisificação e classificação do Homem negro. Sara Carneiro, conhecida no videoarte, um dos quais estreado no MFF-2021, faz uma abordagem ao sistema colonial, a violência, a exploração da força humana dos negros e os recursos naturais, que pode levar um debate ou reflexão necessária nestes tempos.

Uma das mostras de se visitar com expectativas, no Camões – Centro Cultural Português em Maputo, será a intitulada “ser humano” que marca os 20 anos do MUVART, o movimento de arte contemporânea que marcou as novas tendências das artes moçambicanas, com a curadoria de um dos precursores desse movimento, Jorge Dias. O Kulugwana, espaço cultural nos Caminhos de Ferro em Maputo, faz uma mostra de obras do talentoso fotógrafo Idelfonso Colaço.

No geral, o festival Gala Gala é feito de música, artes visuais, dança, literatura, teatro, audiovisual e outras áreas de vertente multidisciplinar, numa colaboração entre instituições o Centro Cultural Franco-Moçambicano, a 16Neto, o Centro Cultural Moçambicano-Alemão, a Associação Cultural Kulungwana, o Camões – Centro Cultural Português, a Fundação Fernando Leite Couto, o Museu Mafalala, a Embaixada da Espanha e o Instituto Guimarães Rosa.

Gala Gala: Maputo with a vibrant cultural itinerary from September 11th to 17th 

 

The Gala Gala festival, an artistic event whose hallmark is artistic multidisciplinarity and the diversity of spaces, proposing an itinerary of Maputo’s main cultural spaces, is taking place from 11 to 17 September. 21 events are scheduled for this fourth edition.

Firstly, the visual arts stand out. Opening the festival, Sara Carneiro’s exhibition “sangue do meu sangue” takes us to the Maputo Fortress and takes us on a historical-political journey of colonisation and even identities, starting with the imposition of the culture of the other, the objectification and classification of the black man. Sara Carneiro, known for her video art, one of which premiered at the MFF-2021, takes a look at the colonial system, violence, the exploitation of black people’s human strength and natural resources, which can lead to a debate or reflection that is necessary in these times.

One of the exhibitions to look forward to at the Camões – Portuguese Cultural Centre in Maputo will be the one entitled “ser humano” (human being), which marks the 20th anniversary of MUVART, the contemporary art movement that marked the new trends in Mozambican arts, curated by one of the movement’s precursors, Jorge Dias. Kulugwana, a cultural space on the railway tracks in Maputo, is showing works by the talented photographer Idelfonso Colaço.

Overall, the Gala Gala festival is made up of music, visual arts, dance, literature, theatre, audiovisual and other multidisciplinary areas, in a collaboration between institutions such as the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre, 16Neto, the Mozambican-German Cultural Centre, the Kulungwana Cultural Association, Camões – Portuguese Cultural Centre, the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation, the Mafalala Museum, the Spanish Embassy and the Guimarães Rosa Institute.
