A feira de arte contemporânea ARCOlisboa terminou e o balanço que se pode fazer é do sucesso obtido pelas galerias de arte africana que apresentaram uma diversidade de obras, sendo grande parte delas pertencentes a mulheres criadoras.
A participação das galerias do continente africano foi na secção África em Foco, com curadoria de Paula Nascimento que em entrevista explicou ter se inspirado nos ensaios “How to Write About Africa”, do autor queniano Binyavanga Wainaina, para preparar a presença africana na ARCOlisboa.
De Moçambique esteve presente a Galeria Arte d´Gema que representa talentos emergentes e artistas consagrados com diferentes gamas expressivas. Funcionando como plataforma de promoção da expressão das práticas artísticas e culturais dos artistas moçambicanos e da sua diáspora – a Arte de Gema “especializou-se em explorar a arte numa perspetiva local e global”.
O artista plástico Gemuce e a fotógrafa Thandi Pinto são alguns dos artistas agenciados pela Arte d´Gema com as obras expostas na ARCOlisboa.
O destaque entre moçambicanos vai para a presença de Reinata Sadimba, através da Perve Galeria.
Edson Chagas, Dimakatso Mathopa, Hedwig Barry, Ann Gollifer, Fidel Évora, Teresa Roza d’Oliveira, José Chambel, Ângela Ferreira, Cecilia Lamptey Botchway, Saïdou Dicko, Patrick Tagoe-Turkson, Victorien Bazo, Tsoku Maela, Thandiwe Muriu, Jean-Marc Hunt, Marcel Tchopwe, Bara Sketchbook e Abe Ogunlende são os outros artistas presentes.

Contemporary African art in the spotlight at ARCOlisboa
The contemporary art fair ARCOlisboa has ended and the balance one can make is of the success obtained by the African art galleries that presented a diversity of works, most of them belonging to female creators.
The participation of the African galleries was in the section Africa in Focus, curated by Paula Nascimento who, in an interview (in Pt.), explained that she was inspired by the essays “How to Write About Africa”, by the Kenyan author Binyavanga Wainaina, to prepare the African presence at ARCOlisboa.
From Mozambique, Galeria Arte d’Gema was present, representing emerging talents and established artists with different expressive ranges. Working as a platform to promote the expression of artistic and cultural practices of Mozambican artists and their diaspora – Arte de Gema “specialises in exploring art from a local and global perspective”.
Artist Gemuce and photographer Thandi Pinto are some of the artists represented by Arte d’Gema with works exhibited at ARCOlisboa.
The highlight among Mozambicans is the presence of Reinata Sadimba, through Perve Galeria (in Pt.).
